Attend Anywhere 2023 r6

Thursday, 10 August 2023

This release contains general system performance improvements, and the improvements and bug fixes mentioned below.

Improvements

Better mobile experience for group consultations

Service users joining a group consultation on a mobile phone will now have a better video experience due to the following mobile configuration changes:

  • Send/receive resolution reduced to 360 pixels. This has a minimal effect on video quality, but a large effect on CPU, network, and battery usage.

  • Video background disabled. This refers to the fuzzy background that users see either side of a video tile when they view a landscape video in portrait mode or vice versa. It does not refer to virtual backgrounds, such as blur, which are not available on mobile phones.

  • Default video codec changed to VP8. It had been VP9, but this used too much CPU power for mobile devices.

Note: The above configuration changes only affect mobiles; desktops are unaffected.

Additional options for system administrators

The following improvements provide system administrators with access to additional information and functions, to help them better support users who report issues.

Note: NHS England staff will not see any changes relating to system administrators, as the NHS England instance of the platform has organisation administrators, not system administrators. For more information about administrator rights, see Roles and permissions.
  • System administrators can now view the Person ID on a user profile.

  • In the User Roles dialog, system administrators can now see:

    • the date the user joined a particular waiting area, meeting room, or organisational unit

    • who invited them to join.

  • System administrators can now set temporary user passwords. For more information, see Set a temporary password.

Change to cookies banner

A Google Analytics update on 1 July 2023 means that we can no longer use this service for non-essential cookies in the Attend Anywhere platform. For this reason, the cookies banner that service users see when initiating a video call no longer offers the option to accept non-essential cookies.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue in which service providers were unable to update their profile picture from a mobile device.

  • Anyone using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge version 114 was finding that the Blur feature appeared in dark mode, giving a black background. This has been fixed.

  • The error message that displayed when a service user's microphone or camera were in use by another application was incorrectly saying that permissions were required. This has been corrected.

  • When a meeting room administrator viewed a Meeting Rooms report tile or detailed report, the meetings they had attended in the selected time period were not displayed. This has been fixed.

  • Waiting area or meeting room names which inadvertently included a double space between words were causing search results to fail. We have run a script to remove double spaces from the names of existing waiting areas and meeting rooms, to prevent this problem.

Note: When creating new waiting areas or meeting rooms, avoid including double spaces.
